We had another President in the early part of this century named Calvin Coolidge. Perhaps not as eloquent as Jefferson, he nevertheless was a man of great wisdom and compassion as evidenced by these two items.

Once, while attending a county fair, he was approached by a young boy who said to him, "Mr. President, I bet my father that I could get you to say three words to me." Coolidge looked at him squarely and said, "You lose."

Another time, someone asked him, "Mr. President, how many people do you have working for you in the federal government?" Coolidge replied, "Oh, about half of them."

Surely, there should be room at Mt. Rushmore for him.
: For some reason, people write me a lot of 'words of wisdom'. These are from Thomas Jefferson. For the Dutch under us; He is a writer of the U.S. constitution and the third president of the U.S.A. Pick out the things you can use, and leave the things you can't. That was my word of wisdom.- Paul
